IH&RA 41st Annual Congress: Highlights > Resounding Success - Superb Speakers, Outstanding Venue, Strong Attendance > Tribute to Juan Gaspart Juan Gaspart Honoured at IH&RA Congress for His Many Years of Service & Support Past IH&RA President Don Juan Gaspart Bonet was paid a touching tribute at the IH&RA Congress in the presence of his family, Felipe Gaspart. This also was the occasion for Husa Hotels, another Gaspart family enterprise, to rejoin IH&RA. Husa Hotels President, Mr. Joan Gaspart, is warmly welcomed to the IH&RA Board as Regional Vice President for Europe! When Mr. Don Juan Gaspart passed away in May of 2002, IH&RA lost not only a member, but a friend and avid supporter. The Association paid a fitting tribute to Mr. Gaspart at the IH&RA Congress Gala Dinner where Felipe Gaspart was awarded an honour in his father's name. Don Juan Gaspart Bonet Don Juan Gaspart, a dedicated member of IH&RA, eminently contributed to the activities of the Association through his hotel, the Avenida Palace Hotel in Barcelona. He was such an advocate of IH&RA that he in fact held a 2-fold membership - membership through his hotel and one "individual" membership. President of IH&RA from 1981 to 1982, he supported and promoted the Association throughout his career. He never failed to attend the IH&RA Congress, year after year, where he enjoyed meeting his peers. He also served as active member on the IH&RA / UFTAA Liaison Committee focusing on the relationship between hotels and travel agents. IH&RA has lost a most cherished member with Mr. Juan Gaspart's passing, but are honoured to announce that his family will continue in his tradition. Felipe Gaspart was present at the IH&RA Congress in Istanbul and Husa Hotels rejoined IH&RA as a chain member. Husa Hotels President. Mr. Joan Gaspart has also been elected to serve as the IH&RA Regional Vice President for Europe in 2005.
