Meeting with IOE Secretary-General Antonio Penalosa and IOE Advisor Jean Dejardin, IH&RA leaders shared with these “natural partners” comments and information on current hospitality issues: the need to retain the Hotel, Catering & Tourism (HCT) position within the ILO, the recent moves to reform the ILO Sectoral Activities department – and of course the forthcoming ILO Tri-partite meeting on the Impact of Global Food Chains on Employment in September (see also separate note on this meeting).
As an Observer, IH&RA will share with IOE the task of ensuring the participation of the best Foodservice industry experts in the Employer Delegation. IOE & IH&RA have already shared concerns on the scope of this meeting and the form of the report to be discussed at the meeting - currently being drafted by ILO.
IOE re-iterated its support for the joint IH&RA-ILO-IOM Temporary Worker Mobility project also the subject of discussion during the meeting with the International Organisation for Migration.
