IH&RA Board & NACE meet in Sofia

IH&RA's Board of Directors and National Association Chief Executives were given a warm and enthusiastic welcome to Sofia by our new Members the Bulgarian Hospitality Management Club and the Bulgarian Hotel & Restaurant Association. In a true show of Bulgarian hospitality, IH&RA Members were wined and dined in an impressive number of member properties and shown the beautiful sights of historic Sofia.

The President reported to the Board and NACE Council on his varous meetings with the International Agencies (see March e-Newsletter) and on his future travel commitments.

The Director-General prioritized five major areas:
1. Administration & Finance: reduction in staff and travel costs
2. Office move: IH&RA moved to better suited offices in the same building, avoiding the disruption of a full move and retaining the same contact details
3. Membership: A number of new or former Members have joined, and discussions are underway with the ASEAN countries
4. Communication: Regular e-Newsletter, press releases
5. Advocacy: see separate report on the UNEP APELL launch, on ISO TC 228, on UNWTO Avian Flu Simulation and on Climate Change.
