Focus on Safety and Security > Australia develops Pandemic Planning Tool for the Tourism Industry > Australia develops Pandemic Preparedness Tool
Interactive multimedia tool targets the Accommodation Sector

During the last two years the Australian Government has done much to prepare Australia for the possibility of an influenza pandemic. The Government is now encouraging advanced preparation by tourism businesses for a potential pandemic and is committed to providing resources to assist them in this process.

"Prepared and Protected - Special Edition for Australia's Accommodation Sector" provides practical information on the threat of infectious respiratory diseases and how to reduce their spread. Designed to be used as a training tool for staff, this new resource includes instructional videos, interactive testing modules and resource documents.

The resource has been developed specifically for the accommodation sector in close collaboration with Australia's national accommodation industry associations and is being provided to properties through these associations. The resource is however also applicable to the broader tourism industry and has been made available online through the Department of Industry Tourism and Resources' wbesite.
