With this first newsletter of the year, IH&RA and its members worldwide extend solidarity and support to all those affected by the 26 December catastrophe in Southeast Asia, so many of whom represent members of the IH&RA family - hotel and restaurant employees, employers, valued customers and, above all, the local people who make travel and tourism possible. The hotel and restaurant industry is united to support a rapid recovery. We invite our members and partners to use this newsletter and the IH&RA website as a vehicle to communicate their experiences and needs to the worldwide hospitality community. On this note, we extend our sincere and best wishes for the year 2005 and remain steadfast and optimistic that hospitality and global travel and tourism will prevail.
